Headquarters (Devon St. West)

This makeover of an existing hair salon in New Plymouth established a clear identity. Hairdressing is all about fashion and style and the rejuvenated space needed to reflect this.
A strong street presence through frameless auto glass doors gives the discerning customer a warm welcome into the reception area. The plan itself is simple with three main spaces:
Reception, waiting, product sales - solid mild steel (clear lacquer) cantilevered reception counter contrasts with moulded clear Perspex. Use of electric blue neon strip and backlit “woven-wall” helps create an interesting front of house and backdrop to the main space.
The engine room - where the cutting takes place of flexibility was a key requirement of the brief and hence the use of modular ‘tri-stations” on wheels. The necessity for visual transparency without compromising client privacy is addressed by using clear Perspex panels on workstations.
