The Hollard Garden provides a range of garden environments around which an interesting and diverse horticultural and botanical collection has been developed. The brief for the visitor pavilion at TRC’s Hollard Gardens called for centerpiece and a gateway to the garden grounds by creating a purpose built education centre and visitor information centre.
The result is a pavilion which nestles into the surrounding landscape, blurring the boundaries and providing unnoticeable transitions between enclosed spaces and the outside through a series of covered outdoor spaces. Pocket vistas are captured in different directions, highlighting specific moments in the surrounding environment and the use of natural weathered materials enhances and aids the built fabric in melting into its landscape.
