BOON Ltd & Beca were engaged to design a new purpose built network operations facility to replace the existing Junction Street control room. The new facility is designed to have a high level of resiliency to ensure Powerco can continue to operate its electrical networks safely and effectively in the event of an emergency or natural disaster. The proposed control room will be able to be operated 24 hours a day, seven days a week to manage the electricity network. The acoustics, air conditioning and lighting have being carefully considered to ensure the staff working long hours are kept comfortable and engaged.
