Crompton Putt House

Jury citation: “In response to what he euphemistically coined a “well defined budget”, the Architect has encapsulated a superb living environment within an elegantly simple, Onduline-clad rectangle, capped with a gently raking monopitch Zincalume roof. Of modest proportions, this house is both economic and environmentally responsible. Yet the design compiles a hierarchy of internal spaces from canyon-like circulation to double-height open plan living space. The direct use of materials and colours is reminiscent of ‘The Group Architects’, early pioneers of New Zealand residential Architecture, with similar ideologies of creating both functional value and art.”
