Lynskey House
This striking, coastal home, located in inner city New Plymouth captures the very essence of contemporary architecture. Situated on a narrow site that orientates North and South, this provided both challenges and opportunities in creating this uniquely modern experience. The home utilises its prime location on a cliff top overlooking the Tasman Sea by creating multiple view shafts from both indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing the full scale of the site to be utilised in conjunction with a need to provide protection from the elements via outdoor havens helped to drive the shape of the design.
The strong contemporary design features the natural materials of Cedar, Brick and Stone to further merge the home into its cliff top site. These elements work to enhance the ambience of the spaces throughout the numerous programs of use.
The multiple and varying outdoor spaces provide useable Alfresco living and truly blend indoor and outdoor living in an exposed coastal environment.
The home features a cantilevered lap pool which is visible from the street and various vantage points throughout the home. This in turn creates an immediate link between the home and the ocean, referencing the natural elements beyond.
